Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Magento to Royal Mail integration cost?

A flat £6.99 per month, with a free first month to evaluate. Since Magento stores typically ship in volume, this is deliberately a flat fee — you won't pay more as your order count grows.

Does this support Adobe Commerce as well as Magento 2 Open Source?

Yes. The connector uses the standard Magento 2 REST API, which Adobe Commerce (Magento Enterprise) exposes in the same way. Both hosted and self-hosted installations are supported.

What credentials do you need from my Magento installation?

We need a REST API integration user on your Magento admin — we'll tell you exactly which ACL resources to tick (mainly sales / orders / shipments). For Adobe Commerce we can also work with an OAuth-based integration if that fits your security policy better. Plus your Royal Mail Click & Drop account details.

Can I run this across a multi-store Magento setup?

Yes — multi-store and multi-website Magento configurations are supported. During setup we'll configure which store view(s) feed orders into Click & Drop, which is useful if only some of your brands ship via Royal Mail.

Will Royal Mail tracking numbers be pushed back into Magento orders?

Yes. When postage is paid in Click & Drop, the Royal Mail tracking number is returned to the Magento order, so shipment confirmation emails include it and your customer service team can see it inside the Magento admin.

How do I map different Royal Mail services to orders automatically?

The recommended approach is to use Royal Mail Click & Drop's own Shipping Rules engine, which evaluates every incoming order and applies a service based on rules you set.

Typical configuration:

  • Log into Click & Drop and open Settings → Shipping Rules
  • Create rules by weight, destination, dimensions or order value, for example:
    • UK letter < 100g → 2nd Class Letter
    • UK parcel 0–2kg → Tracked 48
    • UK parcel 2.01–5kg → Tracked 24
    • Europe & international → International Tracked & Signed
  • Save and activate — Click & Drop then matches each order against the rule set as it arrives.

For this to work cleanly, product weights need to be populated in Magento — they flow into Click & Drop with the order and drive the rule matching.

What's included in the ongoing support?

Royal Mail periodically change their API and Click & Drop behaviour. Keeping the integration working through those changes is part of your subscription — we monitor upstream updates, patch the connector as needed and handle any issues at our end.

Does this work with a Royal Mail OBA account?

Yes. Whether you're on a standard Click & Drop subscription or a Royal Mail OBA (On-line Business Account), the same integration handles both account types.

How does cancellation work?

Cancel at any time with 30 days' notice. The integration keeps syncing during the notice period, then stops at the end of the billing cycle. Without an active subscription the connector won't continue to run.

Do you do other Magento development work?

Yes — Magento 2 module development, performance audits, ERP/accounting integrations, checkout customisation and re-platforming projects. Contact us to discuss a brief.
