Email Marketing Platform
UK-built email marketing platform powered by Amazon SES. Multi-brand by default, real engagement tracking, automated seasonal campaigns, and a one-click migration tool that has already moved 213,000+ subscribers off Sendy. Flat monthly pricing — no per-subscriber surprise bills as you grow.
Receptive Mail is a self-hosted email marketing platform we built for our own UK clients after watching Mailchimp invoices climb past £200/month and Sendy's interface fall behind. It runs on Amazon SES (the same infrastructure Amazon.com uses to send its own email), which keeps deliverability high and costs an order of magnitude lower than the big-name platforms once you scale.
Behind the simple subscribe-and-send experience is a full operator's dashboard: per-brand health pages, a 30-day deliverability monitor, audit logs, A/B subject testing, automated seasonal campaigns, and a pre-flight checklist that won't let you ship a broken send. Built and run in production daily — currently powering 11 brands, 33 lists, and 213,238 active subscribers.
Every plan ships with the full feature set. No tiering games, no upsells for basics like A/B testing or scheduled sends.
{{meta.key}} substitution in any campaign.{{year}} placeholder and they'll fire automatically every year. Optional lead-day offsets, send-hour scheduling, and draft-review mode.Run as many brands as you like under one login. Each brand has its own SES credentials, sender domain, send rate, and DKIM CNAMEs. We use it ourselves to run 11 production brands.
Open and click tracking with branded redirects. A/B subject testing baked in. Per-campaign deliverability summary so you know exactly how many sent emails later bounced or attracted complaints.
Set Christmas, Black Friday, Easter, Cyber Monday once. Optional lead-day offsets ("send 7 days before"), send-hour scheduling, and a {{year}} token that auto-updates the year in subject + body. Fires every year forever.
Hard-enforced unsubscribe footer on every send. Double opt-in lists with conversion tracking. Suppression list with bounce / complaint / manual reasons. Pre-flight checklist that blocks bad sends before they queue.
Audit log of every event across every list. Brand health dashboard with 90-day join chart. Cron health badge. Admin alerts centre flags critical issues before customers notice.
REST API with key management. HMAC-signed outbound webhooks on subscribe/confirm/unsubscribe. Native Wix subscribe-form generator. Embeddable forms anywhere. Bring your own SES credentials.
If you're on Sendy and finding the dashboard increasingly long in the tooth, our one-click migration tool reads your existing Sendy database and brings every brand, list, and subscriber across — idempotent, four-phase, with sendy_app_id / sendy_list_id columns kept for traceability. It's been tested in production at the scale you'd expect: 213,238 subscribers across 11 apps and 33 lists, all migrated cleanly.
Coming from Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo, or another platform? Our import tool reads CSV exports with a column-mapping UI (Email / Name / Skip per column) and a real-time progress bar — chunked at 5,000 rows per batch so even 100,000-subscriber lists import without timing out.
Every plan includes the WYSIWYG editor, multi-brand support, A/B subject testing, open + click tracking, scheduled and seasonal campaigns, embeddable forms, double opt-in, automated bounce handling, REST API, webhooks, and a free bespoke email design from our team. The only difference between tiers is the monthly send allowance.
Sending more than 10,000 emails/month? Get in touch for a custom plan — we run multiple high-volume brands on this exact platform.
Comparison reflects publicly listed Q2 2026 pricing tiers. Mailchimp's "5,000 contacts" tier example is the Standard plan as of May 2026; Sendy's figure assumes Sendy Pro at $69 one-off plus typical SES costs at that volume.
Yes. We built Receptive Mail specifically for businesses watching their Mailchimp invoices balloon as their subscriber list grows. Mailchimp prices per contact, so a 10,000-contact list on the Standard plan runs around £100/month. Receptive Mail’s Pro plan is £19.99/month at the same volume — flat, regardless of how many subscribers you have. The visual editor, open/click tracking, A/B testing, and automation are all comparable.
Sendy was great in 2014 — it was the first serious self-hosted email-marketing tool. The interface and feature pace haven’t kept up: no native A/B subject testing, no engagement scoring, no recurring seasonal campaigns, no operator dashboards. Receptive Mail picks up where Sendy left off, with a one-click migration tool that has already moved 213,000+ subscribers off Sendy in production. We keep the Sendy database columns linked for traceability so you can roll back if you ever want to.
You can use ours, or bring your own — your choice. Bringing your own gives you full control over sender reputation and lets you keep SES costs separate from your Receptive Mail subscription (SES costs about £0.10 per 1,000 emails on top). We’ll help you set it up either way: per-brand SES credentials, DKIM CNAME generation, and one-click bounce/complaint webhook wiring are all built into the dashboard.
Amazon SES is the same email infrastructure Amazon.com uses for its own millions of daily transactional emails. Sender reputation is industry-leading, IP warming is handled, and bounce/complaint feedback loops with major mailbox providers are wired in. We pair SES with automated bounce processing and a hard-enforced unsubscribe footer on every campaign so your sender score stays clean.
Double opt-in (DOI) means new subscribers must click a confirmation link in their email before they’re added to your list. It’s required for GDPR compliance in the UK and EU, and it dramatically improves list quality — every contact has confirmed they actually want your emails. Receptive Mail tracks DOI conversion rate per list so you can see how many subscribers click through, and identify forms or sources with weak conversion.
Yes. The embed form works on Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, plain HTML — anywhere you can paste a snippet of code. Wix users get a dedicated snippet generator with a live preview. Once subscribers fill the form, they flow straight into your Receptive Mail list with double opt-in handled automatically, and an outbound HMAC-signed webhook can fire to your CRM in real time.
Yes. Open tracking uses a per-recipient 1×1 pixel; click tracking rewrites each external link through a signed redirect that logs the click before forwarding. The campaign progress page shows unique opens, total opens, open rate, unique clicks, click rate, and a top-20 ranked link table. You can compare campaigns side-by-side using the comparison report.
Yes — built into every plan, no upcharge. You enter a Subject A and an optional Subject B on the campaign form. Receptive Mail does a 50/50 deterministic split at enqueue time and shows the open rate per variant on the progress page. You don’t need to tag or segment anything — just type two subjects.
Set Christmas, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, or any annual send once, and Receptive Mail fires it automatically on the right date every year. Use the {{year}} placeholder anywhere in subject or body and the year auto-increments. Optional lead-day offsets let you fire 7/14/30 days before the actual date for early-bird campaigns. Draft mode creates the campaign for review without sending.
Yes. Sendy migration is a one-click tool that reads the existing database directly — proven in production with 213,000+ subscribers across 33 lists. From Mailchimp / Klaviyo / Brevo / etc., export your subscribers as CSV and use the import wizard: upload, review the column-mapping UI, confirm, and watch a real-time progress bar as up to 100,000 rows import in 5,000-row chunks. Suppression lists import too via a separate CSV importer.
Yes. Generate API keys in the dashboard. Endpoints cover subscribe, unsubscribe, list subscribers (paginated), list campaigns (paginated, optionally filtered by brand), list lists, and a health-check ping. Bearer-token auth, JSON in / JSON out, with last-used tracking on every key so you can audit which integrations are calling.
Native Wix integration is built in. The dashboard has a snippet generator that produces an embeddable subscribe iframe with live preview — you copy a single block of code into your Wix site and you’re live. Subscribers flow into the Receptive Mail list with double opt-in handled, and outbound webhooks can fire to other Wix apps if you want.
Receptive Mail is optimised for marketing campaigns with subscriber lists, but you can use the REST API to trigger one-off sends for transactional flows. For high-volume transactional traffic specifically, we usually recommend pairing Receptive Mail (campaigns) with a thin direct-SES integration (transactional) — happy to help wire that up.
If you regularly approach your limit, we’ll let you know and recommend upgrading. We won’t cut your sending off mid-campaign — we’ll work with you to choose the right plan for your volume. The Pro plan has plenty of headroom for most UK SMEs and we run custom plans above that.
Yes — you can cancel any time. Your subscriber list, campaign history, click logs, and audit log are all exportable as CSV so you can take your data with you. No lock-in, no proprietary formats.
